Lost steering on my Lund 1800 fisherman, 2005 w/ Yama 150hp. Steering wheel has no affect on the motor. I can move the motor from side to side by hand. There appears to have some oil under the steering arms. Any ideas on a fix ?? Is there a seal or something for the hyd. steering that can be replaced ?? thanks inadvance.

There are o-ring seals in the cylinder like TD said. Pretty simple rebuild, find the manufacturer of the hydraulic cylinder, and you can buy a rebuild kit that contains all of the parts necessary to make it good as new.

Thanks for the replys. Took it to mech today he said that the fluid level was low he refilled it and bleed the air out and it seems to work good now. I will keep an eye on it, the fluid had to go somewhere............still suspect the seals but no serious leaks.............cheap fix hope it works

There are external o-rings on the cylinder shaft just under the retainer nut. If you have a small leak, these are probably the culprit, and they are VERY simple to replace.
