Carnuba wax from the auto store, or I use Meguiar's Premium Marine Wax. It adds a mirror shine to my boat. Also, I hope you didn't use dishwashing liquid to wash it. You need something less harsh for fiberglass like RV or Boat Wash. Dishwashing soap can strip your wax.
What did you use to cause that to happen? You may just have some chemial residue left on the surface....
On chalky (is there such a word) dull finish, wash it good, wipe with Laquer thinner. I have used 2000 & 2500 microfine and wet sand. Then I use Evercoat Machine Glaze with a power buffer. Wax with Mothers Carnuaba to a fine shine. I prefer the Evercoat product line and cost less then 3M. Get microfine paper and polish from your commercial auto paint supply.
