Re: lost

It's the rectifier , converts AC voltage to DC for the charging system. Repair the wire , it is more than likely not charging the battery. If you can't repair the wire for whatever reason replace the rectifier.

PS- check your battery condition and connections, it should crank with a good battery even though the rectifier isn't connected but fix the wire first.

If the wire to the rectifier is burned, don't re-connect it, replace the rectifier first. You don't need the rectifier to run the motor, you just won't recharge the battery without it and your tachometer won't work.

Check the fuse in the fuse holder mounted near the rectifier. Click the thumbnail, please.

Re: lost

Bad switch- discharged battery dirty connections frozen power head... the list can go on and on. To name a few reasons why the using the key switch will not turn the motor over.

Clean ALL connections and charge battery.Remove caps from battery (if it's not a sealed battery- maintaince free and low maintainence will have removeable caps, too) and fill to split rings with distilled water. If battery won't charge, take it to a battery store and have it load tested. That will tell if it's a bad battery. I've seen "junk" batterys brought back to live with a fill of water and a slow recharge.
