Loud rattle at 1800 to 2500 rpms?

Strange loud rattle at about 1800 to 2500 rpms sounds like a wrench is in it goes away when i go WOT and does not do it at idle? It is a 1989 125 force, it however does it in netrl when i rev it up? Goes away at a high rpm? Any ideas, I am lost at this point.

Yes it does, just a little history I took the flywheel off changed stator and trigger, put it back together, took boat out nut came lose on the flywheel, brought it home tight it back down, came lose again, the rattle started after I took the flywheel off, I have ordered a new nut and key do you think it is making the rattle because the flywheel
keeps coming lose? Maybe the key is worn, just guessing, but if it were inside the motor should get worse at a high rpm not stop? Any ideas I am open to any while I wait on parts

Sounds almost like my problem in the mercury/mariner forum! Does it also do it as you back off speed?

if your timing is off, you could have detonation which would also cause things like the flywheel to come loose. also, you should inspect the flywheel and crank mating surfaces. once they come loose, they can get boogered up quickly and become junk.

One more update for this topic, Got new nut new key also found a small chip missing out of the key way????any how put it back together with missing chip and ran the boat and it seems fine now and cant help but wonder how that chip happened.
