Low compression on a Suzuki DT4

Am I screwed? The tech told me that they got around 5lbs on the 1st pull and maybe up to 75 on the 3rd pull? I figure it's going to cost more to fix than to just buy a new kicker, but I figure I'd ask if there was any type of solution/fix that might help?

There is nothing wrong with your engine's compression. It is normal to take up to 5 pulls to get a max reading. Even 75psi is plenty for a rope start engine.

If you have doubts, take it to an honest, certified Tech.

Agree with JB. With a rope start it takes 4 or 5 good "pull the rope like a man" yanks to get a true compression reading.
Heck even with electric start you cranks it over for 3 or 4 seconds then look at your reading.

Wow, I'm glad I remembered to come back and check this thread! We did take the engine to a tech(highly regarded, albeit works on larger stuff usually) and that is where we got that information from. Maybe we should get the starter coil installed and see how she runs!

Either way it goes, thanks so much for the feedback, I really hope you guys are right! :D
