Hi, I need some advice. I took my boat out and it has this rattle after 2200 RPMs (no rattle if not in gear or neutral). I thought it was timing. My manual told me to check the compression in all my cylinders before adjusting the timing. I did and found out that 3 out the 8 pistons have 90 PSI while the others have 130 to 150 PSI. I dropped some oil in the cylinders to see if the problem could be the heads but the compression jumped to about 120 which tells me its the rings (right??) Now I don't know what to do. Replace the engine, change the rings only. What to do??

HELP PLEASE!!!

Re: Low Compression on my OMC

You do not have an outboard, Mochosla. You have an I/O.

Please repost this in the I/O forum.
