I HAVE A 4.3 LX 1995 I JUST COMPLETED INSTALLING NEW HEAD GASKETS,INTAKE AND EXHAUST MANIFOLD GASKETS,I INCORRECTLY ADJUSTED THE VALVES AND WAS GETTING A STEADY 10-12 HG ON THE VAC GAUGE.I DID A WARM COMPRESSION TEST AND GOT ON 1-3-5 CYLS 140 LBS AND ON 2-4-6 130-140FT LBS, THE MERC BOOK SAYS IT SHOULD BE 180LBS.MY QUESTION IS IF THE VALVES AREN'T ADJUSTED CORRECTLY WILL THAT HAVE AN EFFECT ON THE LOW COMPRESSION READINGS.

Re: LOW COMPRESSION

Why are you yelling at us??? (aka using all caps)

Re-adjust the valves (Per the Merc manual), and take another compression test per this bulletin. Follow all the steps, and you WILL know the condition of your engine.

http://www.boatfix.com/merc/Bullet/97/97_25.pdf
