Low $$ Ebay Items purchased from Hong Kong

Has anyone here ever bought low dollar items (less than $25) on ebay that were shipped to you from Hong Kong? I ask because I recently bought a used BB Pearl 8130 (from Atlanta). The phone works great, but I am thinking of getting a new housing, and I can get it fo $20 (including shipping) from some of the Hong Kong Ebay stores. I have read through the feedback and the sellers I am looking at have great feedback ratings, especially on the same items that I am thinking of getting...

However, my question is this... On these type of low $$ items, would there be a customs of duty fee assessed to get it into the country, and if so, about how much would it be on a $20 item...

I've bought some stuff from Hong Kong. Usually gets here in about a week by international post. Sometimes pretty good stuff, and sometimes a rip-off, especially if you get items like programmable controls.

Thanks. Not too concernd about the quality of the item, as it is a new cell phone houseing. They are manufactured over there anyway...

I was more worried about the amount of possible duties and customs fees that might be added... Did you Hong Kong package have duties/customs added to it upon entering the US???

I don't think it works that way when importing foreign goods into the US, there are only added tariffs and fees added to items exported from the US.

I think our gubment calls this,,,,,FREE TRADE

I have bought a couple things. Never a problem.

Typically, the cost of the item is small and the shipping is high. That way the cost of the item gets below a threshold to trigger a customs charge if any.

I've bought a few items and never had a problem. You pay the cost of the item and the advertised shipping. I paid no other fees. Actually bought a housing for a Blackberry Curve 8330. It's been on my wife's phone for about six months. No issues.

Just bought a Logitech Harmony Remote for $35 bucks. Works great, took about a week to get here, & no problems. I've also purchased a few other items from Hong Kong with no issues.

Have bought some items from HK, $150 - $220, never paid any other fees or duties.

We have had a few e-bay items from the other side of the world. No issues yet.

I have purchased some LED lights and some Ipod accessories from them all with no problem. The shipping is fairly low. My items took about 2 weeks to come in the mail.
