Hi all,

first of all i'd like to introduce myself. My name is Philipp and i'm on a 3 year contact with an automotive supplier inthe US. This year i decided to buy me a boat. It is a 1995 17Ft. Four Winns Freedom with an 3.0 OMC Cobra i/O.

The boat runns great and i have a lot of fun with it. But I found in the spec. that the max RpM should be 4200-4600. When im driving with full throttle im only reaching something around 3000 RpM.

The boat is equipped with 19'' propeller. It is my first boat and im happy to get any feedback, what the reason for low RpM could be.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Low RpM Omc Cobra 3.0

your low rpm's from your motor could be several things, including your prop pitch, your boat isnt trimed for the conditions, and several other options, but I'd be happy with the rpm's that you are getting, once you start getting around that 4000 mark (on some boats even lower) you are really putting strain on that motor, and shouldnt be done for long peroids. I bet your car dealership says your truck can turn 6000-7000 at top end, but you wouldnt want to do it all the time, same thing with boat motors:)
