Re: low rpm skip

check the compression and spark, could have one cylinder down, and at 2500 being dragged thru.

"What is the recirculation check valve and where do I find it and how do I check it? Also what would you recomend to decarb the motor also what should I be running for an additive all season long? thanks for your help."

Please stay on the thread so that everyone can share information. You will get better advice.

I use SeaFoam for decarb.

I use the OMC/BRP, Yamaha or Mercury fuel treatment all year round and add fuel stabilizer whenever I buy new gas.

The recirculation check valves are on the intake manifold and have small hoses leading from the cylinders back to the intake manifold. There are six on the V6. They only allow the return of excess fuel/oil in one direction. If they clog, the junk builds up in the crankcase. If they fail, they can allow two-way flow and that's no good either.

Go to the BRP parts manuals site and look at the intake manifold for your engine:

The check valves are Part # 0392988.

Re: low rpm skip

I second the compression check...I learned my lesson the hard way. I had the exact same symptoms you're talking about with a '79 V-4. I thought, "surely I have no intenal problems if I'm getting the full rpms and performing fine at WOT". So after spending well over $100 and time on carb kits, fuel hoses, and various ingnition parts, turns out I had 7psi on one cylinder and broken rings. NOt saying this is your problem but I wish I had've checked the compression before I decided to order parts and make those repairs.

Re: low rpm skip

Compression and spark checks can be done on muffs - its easier that way.

I do the decarb on muffs when the wind is right and the neighbors have their windows down. It makes a lot of smoke.

ahhhh yes, I have had the proverbial "seafoam smoke confrontation" with the "head of the neighborhood" for a lack of a better title. He did not like how it adversely affected his Saturday morning tennis date.
