Hello
I have a 1994 Johnson 40HP, mounted on a Sea Nymph aluminum 16 ft side console, my waterfowling boat. When running at idle for more than a couple of minutes, I get the constant horn like it was overheating. Motor is only warm to the touch. New impeller, good stream out the pee hole. As soon as I bring it off idle the horn shuts off and all is good. It is using oil so the VRO is operatiing OK, and the motor runs great other than this. In fact, it goes like a scalded cat! I have checked all fuel line connections, thinking there might be an air leak compromising fuel flow. I have checked all conections to the horn and switch as I am definitely fallible. I am planning to check spark plugs as I have read that using the wrong style plugs can cause issues with the VRO horn system. I bought the motor late last year and bolted it on the boat in time for two duck hunts. I want to use it for fishing some ponds that my other boat won't launch at. Any thoughs? What am I missing?
Thanks very much!
Bill
