my merc 140 is only running 2200 rpm (on the gauge) at WOT, with a 19 prop, the engine has been tuned up and is running good, what else could be causing the low rpms?

tach wrong. set selector switch on back from 8 cylinders to 4 cylinders.

Re: low rpm

Try knocking the tach. Mine uses to get stuck at 1500-2000.

Re: low rpm

Make sure it's not a tach problem. Mine looked like it was working but was registering only about 80% of the revolutions.... got a new one and problem solved....

Re: low rpm

i'd agree with riverrat. my omc 5.0 was running low rpm's. the tach was set for 6 cylinder and should be set at 8. we moved the switch and its now registering 45-4800 at wot.
