Been working on this problem for several months. My motor (1115422AY) seems to have an intermittent miss from idle up to around 2000 rpms. Even had it miss at 5000 rpms occasionally. Seems worse in the mornings when it is cold. Once warmed up it seems better. Pulled the plugs to see which cylinder is missing and no obvious clue Took the advice of the helpful folks on this site and cleaned the carbs, fuel filter, hoses etc with no solution. Read the CDI trouble shooting guide page 118 (http://www.cdielectronics.com/troubleshootingguide/) and want to check the ignition system with a DVA. Is this just with the key on, cranking or what process? Is this checking the peak output voltage? I have a Fluke 87 with the "peak" function. Would a faulty voltage regulator cause low voltage to the ignition system? I also read somewhere to do High Speed shutdown and inspect the plugs. Would it be helpful to run the motor say below 2000 rpms while misfiring for a short time and then do a shutdown and inspect the plugs to see which cylinder or cylinders and misfiring?

If a 4 cylinder 2+2 design.----These motors only run on the top 2 cylinders at idle.-----Done because little fuel goes in via the bottom carburetors.----All 4 sparkplugs fire at idle.----At 1800 RPM the bottom cylinder carburetors start feeding fuel to run on all 4 cylinders.-----May be as simple as adjusting low speed mixture needles on the TOP 2 carburetors.----Also a manual is needed to set these motors up properly.

What's the reason for dropping the bottom two cylinders? I have a 100 Merc around 1990ish and that motor doesn't do it and seems to run better all the way around. How do the bottom two stay lubricated?

And you are 100% sure that the 100 hp runs on all 4 all the time ?------Or not sure ?

Not sure to be honest but on my 115 you can hear when the bottom two kick in. The 100 doesn't sound the same.

Maybe your 100 is properly set up and you do not notice the transition !
