93 Four-Winns 190 Horizon, 5.0 OMC. It has one of those goofy F x 10 temp gauges, wich I despise ,cause I'm old....But it will not show but about 110 to 120 when on the muffs, water out the transom is not hot hot enough to burn your hand, but is warm, risers are touchable. No, I have not checked the T-stat yet (It's buried) but I would think even if it's stuck-open, it would get warmer than that???? Thoughts?? Ground maybe?? or lack of a good one.

Idling doesn't promote temperature.
How long is the engine running when you check exhaust water?
If the thermostat is a 140 degree, how hot do you expect the engine to get?
What is the temperature reading after twenty minutes on the water, cruising?

Re: Low temp readings..........

When i first bought my boat the engine that was in it had no t stat. It would run at 110-120 also unless I really got on it.

First thing to do is to remove the t stat housing and see if there is a t stat in there. If there is its probably getting stuck open. Do you boat in salt water? I have had problems recently with brand new t stats sticking open or closed.
