I am getting an 06 Lowe fm165s and while we were on the test drive there was something I noticed. The Previous Owner had a lanyard type thing attached to the ignition key. He wrapped it around his hand and said it should always be attached to your body to kill the engine in the event that you are thrown from the boat. The only thing is that when he pulled the lanyard hard, the key did not come out nor did the motor shut off. Is the actual kill switch someplace else?
On my current boat, I have a Johnson tiller and the kill switch is at the tip of the handle. If I pull the lanyard the motor dies.
The motor on this boat is a 75 optimax if that makes a difference.
