Lower end drain plug frozen

So i tried to get my oil in the lower end changed today because god only knows when that was last done (new owner). The drain screw is frozen and ive rounded it off. I heated it and used an impact gun but it just rounded the screw out. Any alternative to replacing the oil without having to drill this out and taping it? I really want to get this done so i can put this boat in the water for a test run this weekend.

Thanks,
Johnas

First, get a new plug and a bunch of gaskets. Use a small drill and an easy-out to remove it. You should be able to do that without destroying the threads. Then never put the plug back in without a fresh gasket.

I have assumed, here, that you are talking about some sort of outboard and that it has a Drain/Fill plug and a Vent plug.

If you told us what you are working on I wouldn't have to assume anything.

My usual steps on plain bolts:

1. Drill 1/8? dead center
2. Drill 3/16?
3. Try a good brand Eazy-Out but stop w/o flexing and breaking
4. Drill w/size just below you get into threads using a new plug to determine
5. Try the Eazy-Out but stop w/o flexing and breaking
6. Say D___T!
7. You should be able to punch threads toward the center and turn them out
8. I usually drill slow with heavy grease on the bit to hold as many shavings
9. My question, would shavings flush out or settle w/o causing any harm?

Alternative:

1. An oil suction gun, proper stiff tubing might suck oil out if vent/fill is open.

Good Luck! jow
