Lower End Noise

[4 Reel Pleasure]

I have a 1987 Merc 4 Cyl. 165 Hp all of a sudden I have a clinging sound in my lower End of my<br />outdrive. Almost sounds like bell ringing. Only occurs while in drive. When it is in neuteral its quite.<br />Also it is a inboard/outboard. Checked my prop, everything is solid no play or slop. Shaft appears to be OK <br />ANY IDEA'S ?

Check the U-joints.

Most likely not the u-joints since they are turning all the time. Drain the lower gear oil and check for metal/water or no oil. And come back.
