lower gears

Hi first time motor ran in 8 years I put new stator,trigger, switch boxs, motor running great. Run about mile or so stop fished. wanted to move. running great slower down to take vido of motor working to send to wife. was running slow gave it some gas and it started up then on power, motor started raceing fast but I was not going any there the prop was not working if was it could not move the water I think something broke in lower gear box. after getting it out of water and back home but it in gear and prop would not move like it was working normal
please someone tell me what you may think it could be. is there a shear pin or somethink I have vido and sound of it going out it on very good but you can hear it go off also it's a 1983 inline 6 115 mercury

No shear pin. Prop hub could be spun. put it in reverse and see if you can turn the prop by hand WITH OUT turning the shaft. If you can it is most likely the prop rubber hub. They can be replaced by a prop shop. Happened to me on a 79 115.

Are you sure you actually had it in gear?
Sometimes the idle button on the side of the shifter sticks and doesn't pop out leaving you in neutral even with the shifter in forward.
Hubs don't just fail completely all of a sudden. There will always be some kind of friction there enough to spin the prop at idle speed.
They usually only show symptoms of slipping under heavy load.

Thank I'll look at it tue, live in apartment have to park boat friends home.he live in ohio and only come to fl. two weeks a year thank again i will let you know

the vido i took shows boat moving and I could hear the change of the motor when I gave it a little gas it , i'll check it again but have to charge battiers run two down trying to trol back to car ramp they when down about 1000 yard from ramp thank to a boater towed us in had a orange flag end of one of fishing poles for about 30min, none of 20 or 30 skydoo would stop. i could have called for help "cell phone" but know we would get back in time

tryed it and it will not turn without shaft hope to try runing it after getting battier charged.
