Novice at outboard repair, ok with auto's. Problem getting at the impeller and removing lower leg. I have taken off the 4 bolts which seemly would hold on the lower leg. Doesn't budge.Been told there may be a "pin" hidden which must be removed. Suggestions? Thanks.

You really need to get yourself a manual or at least hit the library. In any case - have you disconnected the shift rod? I think there is one or two bolts that go from the bottom up - possibly underneath the trim tab.

am a novice but you need to remove the shift rod retaining screw or clip in the motor compartment.

Odat, They're should be another bolt head under the steering trim fin on the cavitation plate. You have to remove the fin first in order to see it.<br />Also,disconnect shift rod under bottom carb area and remove bolt.Look from underneath cavitation plate for other bolt heads. There are at least 5 bolts holding on lower unit,maybe6(can't remember) ;)
