Where exactly does the 6" measurement come from? Brass barrel to the eye on the bolt where it connects to the shift plate?

When the drive is in forward gear the brass barrel on the lower shift cable should be adjusted to measure exactly 6" from the centre of it to the centre of the stud hole in the end of the cable.

Exactly? Mine is about an 1/8th or a little more than that. I'll try to get it at exactly 6" I guess even a little off, makes a big difference?

Can't remember, but I saw a quote from a tech, that said 5 7/8" .
But don't know the year.

Yeah, I thought I saw that in another post a few days back, I think that was for the Pre-alpha though, I have an Alpha 1

Alpha-1... definitely 6".. the 5 7/8" was for the early MC-1 drives, pre circa 1974.
