Just finished rebuiding the transom (thanks to this forum) of my 1989 Caravelle to repair rotten transom caused by corroded lower transom bolts and a leaking Y-pipe. I'm ready to install the gimble housing. I have a fresh gasket and fresh hardware. The lower bolts are the aluminum carriage style with threads for anodes. My question is: For these lower bolts, is the gasket (that is included with the bolt kit) between the square carriage head and the gimble housing sufficient or should I apply some sealant in addition to the gasket? I?m just paranoid of having another leak, but don?t want to compromise anything either.
