lower unit 1975or76 Johnson. V-6 how to remove

I am trying to remove the lower unit from a 1975 or 1976 johnson V-6,but the throtle linkage is hanging up?Do i have to remove the linkage some how?or should it just slide off?<br /> Thanks and happy boating,<br /> Tim

Do you have a shop manual? If not, suggest you get one.<br /><br />Have you disconnected the shift linkage? It's the pivot bolt/pin under the bottom carb. Must be disconnected before the LU can drop.
