lower unit adjustment

I have a chysler/merc/force sportjet 90 hp 3 cyl inboard. Question, how should the throttle cable and jet "reverser" cable work in unison. When I push the throttle forward the reverser as I call it immediately goes from covering the jet outlet to full open before the carbs linkage even moves, is this correct?

Sounds right to me, but I can't find it in my manual.<br /><br />SHould work just like a conventional motor. Put it in gear, then accellerate.<br /><br />In your case: Open the gate, then pump (more) water.
