Lower unit and impeller??

I wanna know if on my 61 model merc 500 with a impeller house cover in shape of a disc (partnr 20270A) the newer cover of a 71 model will fit.

Is it possible to do this and make a change with the cover to a complete housing of a newer modelyear? Do i need to change a lot or is it completely impossible and do i have to change the hole lower unit?

I hope someone will answer my question and understands what i am saying.

Hi,

You can not change the water pump covers between the two years.
I do not think you can get the lower units to interchange either.
Merc did a design change during the 62-63 year.
So you are stuck with what you have.
