I have a 2005 25HP 2 stroke. I was checking the lower unit oil the other day and when I screwed the plug back in, I over tightened and stripped the threads on the engine side (not the bolt). Does anyone have any advice as to what I should do in this situation. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to iboats.

You may be able to use a Merc or Johnnyrude plug. They have larger American threads that you should be able to tap into the existing hole. Head size may be a tad large, however.

I usually laught like heck and heli-coil them.
the jonnyrude plug trick does not work well and the head has to be ground down to fit the hole usually. I have never tried it but I have reparied some that have. next time dont use such a large screwdriver :) . but I get at least 5 a year. sometimes the customer wont even tell me. they just bring it in for a gear oil change and hope I wont notice its stripped. maybe they think I will think I stripped it and fix it free.
aint happened yet :)

I am located in Kill Devil Hills. Do you have a repair shop? I noticed you are from Kitty Hawk. If so, where are you located and how much to fix such a problem? Thanks.
