Lower Unit full of 'glue'

Drained my lower unit last weekend and what came out was about an ounce of carpenter's glue -- looked like that, anyway. That's it!!

Had filled it earlier this summer with the proper oil.....

What gives? Where do I start to look for the problem?

Could be either a propshaft seal or one below the waterpump. Sounds like you need to dig a little deeper and see what has failed. Engine is old enough to warrent replacement of the water pump impeller.
