I have a 1955 15 HP Evinrude and a 1959 10 HP Johnson. I want to change the oil/lubricant in the lower units. If I go into NAPA to get new seals for the screws, does any one know what part number to ask for? I know NAPA sells o-rings for pressure tank fittings, so I'm hoping they'll have these too.

I didn't get any responses, so I pulled the seals and plan to go to Napa tomorrow to see if they can match them up. The Johnson seals were a clear plastic and the Evinrude seals were black. Who knows if either are correct or original parts. I'll post what I find out.

Re: Lower unit gaskets/o-rings

i had the part # and would gladly look to see if i can find it....... if i thought it would do any good.

i went to my local napa and they looked at the numbers and couldnt find anything.......... i also took my old ones with me and they tried to sell me rubber o-rings

i asked if they carried marine parts since i had heard they did.......... apparently not mine, they didnt even know where the marine parts catalog was.

i would suggest you buy the bulk pack of 50.... its cheaper that way and its not like you arent goin to need them.

you can get them here http://www.iboats.com/Evinrude_Gear...4508808--**********.998066550--view_id.269658

Re: Lower unit gaskets/o-rings

The NAPA part number for the o-ring/washer in my lower unit drain plugs is Sierra 18-4248. It replaces OMC 311598. This appears to match the ones found in my 1959 10 HP Johnson, but my 1955 15 HP Evinrude had black rubbery looking rings. I used this part in both motors anyway. They seemed to fit fine.
