I have a Johnson 225 (1994). I have a quart of 100% synthetic Penzoil lower unit gear lube (SAE 75W-90,API GL-5). Is this a good quality lower unit oil, or should I use something else like Johnson lower unit gear lube?
Stalker

Hi, Stalker.

If it is labeled for outboard gearcases and your engine is not an electric shift it will do fine.

Good luck. :)

JB is Correct!

Synthetics will protect better than conventional if you were to get a little moisture in the lower unit and you didnt find out right away!

It may take a little more than a quart though!

LubeDude
