Hello,
I have a 1988 60 HP Mercury outboard. I want to check if my information is correct. Is 80W90 what I use for the lower unit?
Thank you

Got to the Dealer, Wally World, Amazon, even Evil bay, and get some Marine Gear Oil, and you won't have to worry about Viscosity. Some on here will Swear and Argue that it is just Auto Gear Oil. I say not. However, it is your motor and money, so you can put whatever you want in it...

mercury quicksilver marine gear oil 1-litre bottle should be the norm and what the mercury recommends for that engine is a little pricy but you only have to change it once a year if the seals in your lower unit are in good order and not leaking

For a 1988 Motor, any marine gear oil for mechanical shift motors is just fine. Wallyworld has their SuperTech brand, which I used for years. Get a lube pump that mates to a 1 qt bottle of gear lube. Don't forget to replace the gearcase plug gaskets. Fill the gearcase from the bottom, and when it flows out the vent install the top plug. Remove the lube pump and quickly install the bottom plug.
