Lower unit Gear oil

What type Gear oil are yall running,What seems to hold up between changes.

You may not be getting replys because your post is kind of in the wrong forum. It is not Suzuki/Yamaha specific so a lot of people will ignore it.

Also, if you do a search you should find tons of hits on lower unit oil. Read JB's post on how to get the most out of your question. It has a lot of good pointers.

That being said I personally use standard marine rated lube. I use the Wal-Mart brand and change the oil every 6 months ($4 - $8 per change). I read that synthetic holds up longer and works better if water does get in the lower unit but it also costs more so it's a wash in my opinion.

I was just trying to compile a list of gear oils that people are using not just what is good or bad,or the best just what people have noticed are holding up.

I use what ever I end up coming up with when it is time to purchase more for a change. The amount of money in my pocket at the time is usually the deciding factor. Right now it's just lubrimatic 80w/90 high viscosity that was a good deal at the marine supply store.
