Lower unit gear oil

Can someone please help me with how mich gear oil I out in the lower unit of my 1975 70 hp Johnson outboard

You fill from the bottom till it comes out the vent.-----Motor in normal running position.----Takes around 30 ounces.

WW sells it in the quart with a pump. Much easier to use than in the tube with about half the quantity. If this helps, fill with the engine vertical, vent and drain plugs out, screw adapter into drain hole and pump till clear oil comes out the vent. Stop, replace the vent screw with a new washer (preferred). Then unscrew the adapter and insert the drain plug with gasket. You will loose a little but work to minimize it. You probably already knew that but I am having my morning coffee and this looks like the last boating post I can answer this morning so I had to make an effort. Grin
