hello,
I have a 1998 350 mercruiser with Alpha one outdrive

I noticed the lower unit reservoir is empty and the oil is in the bilge. I saw the hose that connects to the lower unit from the reservoir (on the back of the engine) is loose. what's the best way to get back in there and make the connection? do I need to remove the riser and or exhaust manifold?

That is a real tuff spot to get at. In most cases removing anything to give you room is always good, but then again you will need new gaskets. Removing the riser helps a bunch. The next best thing is if you have a skinny armed grand kid with small hands
