Lower Unit Identification W/O Serial#

i have a 1980 sea ray SRV210 with a mercruiser 228HP 5.0L 305 C.U motor engine serial is 5341880 my problem is the lower unit is missing the tag/sticker with the serial number so best i can tall from google searches and parts books i have a Alpha One drive so i ordered a prop for it because the one that came with the boat when i bought it is shot and fits on the prop shaft but there's not enough splined shaft for the castle washer to grip splines do i need a different thrust washer or do i have my lower unit inncorect. i have seen several titles about what lower unit do i have etc but not one actualy has a here is how you tell the difference atleast not that ive found i need help asap cuz i plan to be on the river for the 4th

You should not be using a castle nut on it. It uses a brass nylock nut and a lock tab washer. If it does not fit correctly yes you probably need a different thrust washer on it. A picture would sure help us help you better.
