Hi all,
I rebuilt the lower unit on my 97 baal15 Honda four stroke outboard using the Seloc manual. I haven't fired the motor to check but I need some advice on the gears. Neutral feels like neutral, the prop spins freely. Forward, the prop spins freely with a click as the driveshaft turns, prop will not spin in opposite direction. Reverse is stiff to lever into and it helps if the prop is wiggled a bit to engage. Once done(reverse) prop is locked in either direction.
That 's not right to me and the manual says to make sure the shaft's in neutral on reassembly but doesn't say how to tell if the prop shaft's in neutral. Any help would be appreciated before I go at it in the am. Thanks.
