Lower Unit Interchangeable

Hi all,

Are the lower units interchangeable between my two motors:

74 Merc 650 3-cyl #4042802
74 Merc 850 4-cyl #3885360

The 650 has turned into a donor motor so I'm hoping the lower unit can be swapped if need be to the 850.

No, those won't interchange

That's too bad. Are there any parts that interchangeable? I'd trying to decide if I should keep the 65 around (bad powerhead) or sell it off. My 85 has a gear-grinding sound in reverse so I was hoping to swap some parts from the 65 if need be.

Sorry but the 3 and 4 cyls were completly a differant engine base.
