i had a cooling problem. was not getting enough water into water pump. i opened up the lower unit to find gear oil in cavity and in prop area. drained the rest of the oil and there was no water in the gears but a good deal of oil missing. my question is could this condition cause water not to be sent to the pump and would seals most likely cure this or did i most likely crack the housing. the gears and unit otherwise worked perfectly.
