Lower unit lube in a 53 fastwin?

The lube in my 53 lower unit appears to be quite thick. Is it supposed to be that way or has it been sitting to long? It's been in my basement for 25 years and evrything still moves. Also any ideas on how to get a frozen lower unit vent screw out?

lower unit oil is supposed to be heavy, thick. But having said that, if it's been sitting for 25 years it's time to change it. As far as a frozen vent screw, try spraying penetrating fluid on it and letting it sit overnight. Then give it a try.
