lower unit lube loss in weird way.

Basically I'm trying to find out if I should trash this motor or fix it.
After having our 69 merc 650 out only once it lost all of its lube but never leaked as it sat. I drained the unit (mostly water came out) and put the plugs back in. Laying it on its side today I noticed lube leaking through one of the two holes facing rearward midhight on the engine.

Driveshaft seal under the water pump, or shift shaft seal.

would I have to remove the prop shaft to do that? I sort of threadlocked the be'jesus out of that big threaded cirlcular nut that holds it all in.
