Bundy,If the mobil 1 gear lube you are refering to is not specifically for marine use in lower units I would not recommend it.Buy a good quality brand of lower unit gear lube .If your motor calls for hi-vis bare that in mind when selecting.Most lower unit gear lubes contain emulsifiers to aid in lubrication in the advent of water intrusion.There are synthetic blends of lower gear lube that are acceptable and many will say better than conventional.
