Lower unit oil leak

I have 89 200 rude, have an unusal oil leak, there is a small hole just forward of the water intake on the right hand side of the lower unit. I have gear oil coming from this. I'm to the point of pluging the hole. The fill and drain screws are new and I just changed the oil 2 months ago. This thing is becoming a money pit.

Any suggestions

Are you talking about the unthreaded case drain hole which allows water to escape so that it doesn't freeze. If you have oil coming from there it is probably from the seals where the shift rod goes through or secondly, it could be seals under the water pump. Don't plug the hole.

Do you have a parts listing, if not, I can get it for you if you have your s/n and model number.
