Lower Unit Oil Leaking from Propeller shaft

Hope this is an easy fix. Just got ready to put my prop on and noticed a steady flow of lower unit oil leaking from around the shaft to the exterior of the engine. Does anyone know if I change the inside and outside oil seal if I that will stop the flow of oil? I know I need to take off the retainer cover but hopefully wont have to get too deep into the lower unit. Thanks for your help in advance!!

that should do it provided theres no other damage .are you sure its lower unit oil and not just the gas mix ?

Yeah I am sure it's the oil. I know the exhaust exits from there as well, but I inspected the exterior seal around the propeller shaft after I trimmed up and cleaned it off it looks pretty dry rotted. Hopefully I can just pull off the retainer ring with the removal tool I borrowed and get to the seals, do you think I aught to change out the roller bearing while im right there? Thanks

There's an oil seal behind the prop which you already know but there should also be one or two orings for the hub housing as well. Make sure you check those.

Thanks for your help, how big a project is it to remove the hub housing and accessories, and hopefully it's easy to reassemble.

if you haven't done it before -def. get a manual theres a baklash adjustment you need to measure or feel for before you take it apart and it takes 2 people to do it - or you could go with the dimensions in the book but trust me they will be off and you'll wind up unsatisfied as opposed to the 2 man method .
