I have oil coming out of the lower unit on the starboard side two holes that are right below the cavitation plate near the front of the lower unit. It only comes out of the front hole. If anyone knows what i am talking about or do i need to be more spacific. The motor is a 96 merc 175hp efi. Any advise on weather this normal or a problem would be appriciated.

thanks

Re: lower unit question

If you mean the vent screw, it may require that you replace the O-ring.

Re: lower unit question

no its not the vent screw that its coming out of. There are two little holes on just one side of the motor right below the cavitation plate toward the front of the lower unit. The oil is coming out of there. It looks like it is mixed with water. Does this mean that a seal or somthing is bad letting oil mix with the water and coming out those holes
