Lower Unit Question

Will a lower unit off of a pre-1991 90-degree 90hp outboard fit a 1997 Evinrude 90-special? The look the same. Although the part numbers for the complete gearbox is different, many of the internal parts seem to carry the same part numbers. Thanks!

Should fit as long as they're both cross flow mtrs. The '97 probably has a 2 piece d/s which shouldn't bother.
