Hey guys, I’m am in the process of rebuilding the lower unit of my 1998 Mercury 30hp 2 stroke. This is my first time getting into one of these and I want to make sure it goes back together with no issues. I have read about checking and shimming to adjust the gear back lash but when I got everything all torn down I noticed that there were no spacers anywhere. Does this particular lower unit not require shimming and checking clearances? Also, what’s the best way to remove the lower bearing race for the driveshaft?Seems really difficult since it’s 90 degrees from the prop shaft bore and impossible to get any sort of puller in there. Any advice would be appreciated
