I have a 1959 7.5 HP Elgin that I'm trying to remove the lower unit on <br />to replace water pump. The motor has forward, neutral & reverse. I've disconnected shifting rod, removed<br />lower propeller shaft housing, removed 4 screws holding lower housing to outboard lower leg. I thought the<br />drive shaft was splined into the crank shaft and the assembly should just slide off, but the drive <br />shaft is not moving up or down at all.<br />Is there a pin or collar holding it or is the spline just<br />frozen? If frozen, any suggestions on freeing up?<br />Also, is there any source for the water pump impeller?<br />Thanks in advance.
