lower unit removal

Thanks in advance for any help.I am over looking something,in trying to remove my lower unit.{2004 yamaha 50 hp 2 stroke}.I removed the 4 bolts and the bolts above and below the trim tab.This is a new motor that has been in storage.It needs an impeller.I can not get the lower unit to seperate.Any advice will be appreciated.....

Hi,<br />Check under the outboard cowl, low in there there is a connection to the clutch rod that comes from lower unit.<br />Check brownspoint.com and Parts Look-Up and select DT50 and Year. Fig 9 - Clutch will show you the connection point you must take apart (on nr 1 shaft there is a pin that connects to vertical shaft rod). It is little tight to get the connection apart but it can be done. Have remote control in neutral before you disconnect.
