Had water in lower unit got it pressure tested it failed. I believe i caught the water in unit right away. Am i ok to just have lower unit resealed? what r the odds the water did further damage. Do i need to pay extra for a full inspection if they find something wrong if i choose not to fix it they will just give me a box of parts back. what is a fair price for a reseal?

Re: Lower Unit Reseal

Most lower units will do just fine with a reseal.

Edit: Just had another thought.

When you found the water in the gear case, was there any oil in it? Or was it all water?

If there was water, then oil, or a creamy mix. You should be fine with just a reseal kit.

When you had the pressure test done, did you find what seal was bad?
If you didn't do the test, call the person/people that did it and ask them. This way, when you tear the lower unit apart to replace the seals, you can look at that area to see if there was a reason the seal failed.
