Ship Shape on TV used something called ceal-ant or something like that in the lower unit of a big motor instead of replacing seals. Has anyone used anything like it and does it work? Thanks.

Yep,

Sorta, kinda , like stop leak stuff ,you pour in cooling system/ radiator.

It may be a temporary fix , but usually just that.

And like the way , it clogs up the passages in a radiator.

It would seem to me , it would gum up everything in the gear box.

Not counting , failing to prevent leak .

Resulting in the water intrusion repeating.

Alot more costly on an outboard , rebuilding a blown lower unit, then replacing a radiator.

A seal is a spring loaded rubber seal! Once the rubber is worn away, their is no addative that will replace that.
