lower unit swap 1968 9$half-1963 10 hp swap??

was wondering if the lower units off of these motors would interchange...my ten h.p. evinrude(103020-e06211) is kicking out of gear in forward..i have an old 9 and a half with a good lower unit(model#9r-695)(serial#j3091683) i was wondering if i could switch lower units ...if not could i switch gears?? please let me know..they appear to be the same length(on the outside) thanks (thay are both short shafts)

What year models are these,I could start searching but I'd guess if you know the models you must know the years,

The year of the 10h..p. is a 1962 and i think the 9-half is a 1968...

They should bolt right up, but you'll likely need to change the drive shaft and possibly the shift rod. Just be sure the drive shafts are the same diameter. If the shift rod comes out the same length out the top on both, then you should be okay.
