lower unit wont come off?

Im changing the impeller on my 79' johnson seahorse 4 h.p.<br />there are two sections of 4 bolts holding the lower unit on. I took the lowest set of 4 bolts off and thought I would just pull this off? nope. So, I unbolted the next set of 4 bolts and I cant get this lower unit to budge? can I bang on it with a rubber mallet or pry? there cant be anything else holding this in?<br /><br /> #'s on motor: 4w79d<br />Thanks for any help,<br />Suzuki40

You could try using a rubber mallat to break the gasket. I wouldn't reconmend prying, as you would dammage the metal.<br /><br />I'm pretty sure you drop the lower leg down a bit, then unscrew the shifter linkage top bolt and then you can remove completely.<br /><br />Not 100 percent sure, but worth a try.<br /><br />Repair manuals are good for jobs like impeller replacement.<br /><br />Good Luck.
